Dear Joan & Jim, You’ve made our first visit to this part of your country an unforgettably nice experience!  We have enjoyed the tour, the conversations with you and the welcome breakfast was fabulous.  Thank you!  Tin & Peter, The Netherlands – January, 2015

We had a most comfortable stay at this lovely place.  Thank you, Joan & Jim, for your generous supplies, local knowledge, friendliness and warm welcome.  This will be a memorable part of our drive through SW Australia, that we’ll take back with us to Singapore.  H T, Pauline, Rachel & K P, Singapore – April, 2015

Our third trip here, this time with overseas family guests.  As good as ever.  Thank you for all the extras – delicious avocado, olives and home-made marmalade.  Thanks also for the recommendation of the Happy Bull in Mt Barker.  Great food & nice people.  We’ll be back.  Jim, Jackie, Jack & Gill Merriman, Pemberton & Orkney – April, 2015

What a great 5 days we had! The cottage is so well equipped & comfortable. Your welcome with the goodies – fresh juice & home made biscuits was appreciated. The gardens, the birds & kangaroos at Jilba were a delight to us. We especially enjoyed the Wildflower Walk you recommended to us from Stirling Retreat. It helped us understand where & how to look for orchids & other flowers around us. Your suggestion of the Anzac Museum was appreciated too. Five days was not enough, wish we could have stayed longer. Karen & Keith Sweetman, London, U.K. – September, 2016

A wonderful place in the park setting. Thank you for lovely memories of South Western Australia. Lily Hecht, Ottawa, Canada – October, 2016

Jilba Cottage is exceptionally good, as are Joan & Jim – we appreciated the good quality of everything & the supply of anything that might be needed. An excellent & comfortable base for a very successful birding trip! The olives were delicious – thank you! Rob & Caroline Gully, Nilma North, Victoria – November, 2016

My boys and I loved our stay at Jilba in very comfortable and well equipped accommodation. Joan and Jim, thank you so much for the advice on the area, directions and chats. The boys loved having room to roam, seeing the new born calves, the kangaroos, plus spotting birds with your binoculars. We hope to be back soon. Thank you so much for providing such a beautiful place to escape the city. Wanda, Michael & Jamie Koops, Huntingdale, W.A. – April, 2017

We had a marvellous time. We climbed various peaks in the Stirlings, plus Castle Rock, went sailing, visited the Gap and West Cape Howe, plus had a couple of late afternoon strolls up the firebreak and down to the lower dam, saying ‘Hi’ to kangaroos and calves (and a rabbit on one occasion). Late lunches at Mt Barker Bakery or the Porongurup Café. Monika played her bass most days, but we kept the sound down. Martin was a bit tired after exploring each day – so I think he ran out of puff for practicing the trumpet! I enjoyed sleeping in most days – such a luxury! The cottage was perfect for us – beautiful, clean and nicely laid out. We enjoyed your books, games, movies, as well as lovely breakies and treats for the girls. The breakfast you left us was awesome. Thanks for a great time. Sharon, Martin, Monika & Sophie Eyer, Gwelup, W.A. – July, 2017

We have travelled the globe for 48 years together, seen many places, many things ….this was up among the most pleasant “Ozzy” accommodation that we have stayed at…..rural and true….so nice, with such nice hosts….the birds – gardens – vista. Thank you. Chris and Paula, Potato Point, N.S.W. South Coast – July 2017

A lovely rural retreat with beautiful views, plenty of space and hot water, great amenities, including lots of DVDs to choose from, a large and well cared for garden and above all, very friendly and accommodating hosts. A very well appointed kitchen, with everything provided, including a good range of breakfast provisions, plus some snacks. Thanks, Joan, for allowing us to check out so late, so that we could shower and enjoy lunch on the balcony after climbing the Granite Skywalk. A real gem of a place and a great base for exploring the Porongurups, Stirling Ranges, Albany and Mount Barker. Highly recommended. Renee Stoetzel, Anita Send, Vera Rotermund, Siegen, Germany – November, 2017

Thank you, Jim & Joan, for your hospitality. This is our 2nd consecutive stay in your lovely cottage. We love it so much here. Will be back next year!! Liaw family, Perth & Malaysia – Christmas, 2017

The walks were just out of this world – as was your hospitality – will be back! Allsop family, Australia’s South West, Busselton, W.A. – Easter, 2018

Between beautiful sunsets, walking your precious land, we had a wonderful stay. Thank you for your most kind hospitality!! I wish all Americans could enjoy this. Ulli & Sheila Kuester, Spring Lake, Michegan, USA – April, 2018

My husband and I have just returned from a short winter break at Jilba Cottage. Can honestly say this is, by far, the best self contained accommodation we have encountered anywhere. The attention to detail and personal comfort is outstanding. The hosts are very welcoming, whilst at no time being in any way intrusive. Jim and Joan provided invaluable knowledge about the region’s many attractions. Jilba Cottage, is in addition to being exceptionally well appointed, has stunning views and a breathtaking backdrop of National Park. It was great to get so close to the amazing walks and award winning wineries. Already checking the diary for the next getaway! Paul and Helen Trigg, W.A. – June, 2018

Jilba Cottage is a gorgeous gem backing onto the beautiful Porongurup National Park with views all the way to the coast. The accommodation is perfect: clean, warm, spacious with lovely personal touches. The farm is also beautiful: the olive trees, cattle, avocado trees and green pastures are perfect for long walks and for kids to explore. With kangaroos grazing in the evening, birds aplenty and the beautiful surrounds, Jilba Cottage offers a serene base to explore the Porongurups, the Stirling Range and Albany. Gold star accommodation with the best hosts. Debbie, Greg, Olivia & Evan, Sorrento, W.A. – Jul, 2018

We stayed at Jilba for 11 days and it was just fabulous. We couldn’t imagine staying for a shorter period, there is just so much to see in the National Parks, surrounding districts and beyond. This area is amazing. The property is quiet, with just wakeup calls from the ravens and parrots. The cottage is just perfect, with everything one could want. Joan and Jim are awesome people, they are so keen to make the trip a memorable one and are so knowledgeable about the area. We loved their visits. Thank you for sharing your ‘home’ with us. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and would recommend Jilba Cottage without hesitation. Brent and Molly Page, Levin, New Zealand – October, 2018
